Terminated? What is Reasoanble Notice? What are your rights?

IF YOU HAVE BEEN RECENTLY TERMINATED YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND YOUR RIGHTS IMMEDIATELY

Being terminated is a difficult thing to understand. Calculating reasonable notice is difficult to understand. The prospect of suddenly not having employment can cause a severe amount of stress and anxiety. This is why you need to know how much compensation you should be getting from your employer upon termination. We can inform you of your rights and ensure that you are provided with a reasonable amount of notice to compensate you and to allow you the time to look for alternate employment without being stressed over paying your bills. Don't try and figure out employment law alone. There are many factors within the Employment Standards Act and the Common Law of Canada which need to be taken into account when calculating if your termination package is fair and equitable. Before you sign aa release with your employer, give us a call. Within 30 minutes you will be fully informed of your rights and what you should be recovering. If you are an employee and need assistance with any of the below please feel free to call Matt Lalande or email him matt.lalande@haber-lawyer.com.  You may also use the contact form.

2. You have been fired without a termination package;

3. You have been fired for cause and you don't agree with it;

4. You have been treated unfairly;

5. You think you will be terminated;

6. Your employer changed your employment agreement (i.e. your pay, location, report, sales territory, benefits, work hours);

7. Your employer is not meeting the minimum requirements under the legislation ( termination, minimum wage, maternity leave issues, statutory holidays, not paying overtime pay, not paying vacation pay, you are being overworked without proper breaks or time between shifts);

8. You are subject to discrimination or any sort, or you are experiencing harassment at work. (such as age, race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, criminal convictions, disability, sex, sexual harassment,  sexual orientation, marital or family status, political beliefs or religion);

These are only a few of many things that can go wrong in the employment relationship that we can help with. We will tell you if you need to obtain legal advice.
